A surge in petrol prices isn’t sitting well with motorists up and down the UK but things could be a lot worse if you lived elsewhere across Europe.
Incredibly, 16 other countries across Europe suffer higher fuel prices than the UK.
The UK sits in 17th place as suffering motorists spend an average of £1.29 per litre.
But be thankful you are not driving in Iceland as they top the list of European countries at a whopping £1.63 per litre compared to that of Kazakhstan who come out the cheapest of their European counterparts as their drivers pay as little as £0.40 per litre.
It’s Eastern Europe, largely due to cheaper taxes and subsidies that dominate a large percentage of the cheaper fuel prices as countries whilst the likes of the Western European countries Netherlands, France, Italy, Denmark, Portugal and Monaco all occupy the top 10 spots.
Car sales platform prestigemotorwarehouse.co.uk says even within the UK, prices vary greatly.
“It pays to look around your local area to find your cheapest fuel station.
“By that I mean doing your research and finding your cheapest fuel station and not driving 20 miles to fill up saving a few pence.
“There are a number of apps and websites you can visit that are available that will pick up your location in order to find the cheapest petrol stations in the vicinity.”
